  16. Best of Breed Awards To Be Presented In 13 Product Categories

  18. San Francisco, March 22, 1993 -- NeXTWORLD Magazine today announced that it
  19. will honor outstanding accomplishment in NeXTSTEP product development when it 
  20. presents the NeXTWORLD Best of Breed Awards, or BoBs, on Monday, May 24, 1993.

  23. The winners will be named at a gala awards ceremony featuring presentations by
  24. NeXT CEO Steve Jobs and other NeXT community luminaries. The award winners
  25. will meet the public at a general session during NeXTWORLD Expo, held here May
  26. 25-27, 1993.

  29. "Third party developers have taken advantage of NeXTSTEP's outstanding
  30. developer and user environment to produce a wealth of innovative products in
  31. every category of business software, development tools, and peripherals," said
  32. Daniel Ruby, editor-in-chief of NeXTWORLD Magazine. "With the BoB Awards, we
  33. recognize high achievement by individual third parties, but also put a
  34. spotlight on NeXTSTEP as the industry's premier object-oriented,
  35.  
  36. client/server operating system."

  40. All NeXTSTEP products that are in wide-release beta testing by April 24 and
  41. shipping in shrinkwrap by May 24 are eligible for considersation. Software
  42. must operate under NeXTSTEP 3.0 or later and have announced plans for an Intel
  43. 80486 version.

  45. The judging panel will consist of the NeXTWORLD editorial staff and
  46. contributing editors. They will look for excellence in the following
  47. categories:

  49. - Document Creation - ObjectWare - Business Graphics - Financial Modeling -
  50. Graphic Arts - Utilities - Information Managers - Peripherals - Database
  51. Management

  53. - Content and Information - Communications and Emulation
  54.  
  55. - Emerging Markets - Development and Authoring Tools

  58. Special achievement awards will also be given for exemplary service to the
  59. NeXT community, most innovative NeXTSTEP application, and outstanding use of
  60. NeXTSTEP use at a customer site.
